Bright Lights Big City

This is the latest in a series of symbolic family portraits. I posted the sketch previously and am now posting the final piece. I love the colors and the night time back drop in this piece!

First Steps

Every commission needs a beginning and mine start with an interview and sketches. I am currently working on another family portrait. I generally do a few compositional sketches and rework them until the family is happy with the look.  I have just completed the final sketch and am moving on to the final drawing. I thought I would post the sketch... it is pretty basic but gives a good idea of what the final composition will look like minus the color. Look for more to come later!

Family Portraits

Symbolic family portraits are another type of commission that I do. I love the idea of capturing the essence of the relationships in a family. In this particular piece the family is of Greek and American descent. They wanted the image to reflect their heritage and the places that make them happy. It also reflects a busy life raising children, their home state of Florida, and their many interests.

Mexico on my Mind

This is my most recently completed commission. It is a 60 x50" oil on canvas. The idea behind this piece was to create a feeling of warmth and relaxation and bring the viewer to another place.
